About
Thank you for visiting Jono’s Jottings and for wanting to find out more about me
I currently spend three days per week doing helpdesk work in a state government department and spend the remainder of my time working on various web projects and freelancing.
My journey into the world of the internet commenced in 2000 when I found myself swept up by dotcom madness whilst living in the United Kingdom. I co-founded a small dotcom and spent about three years in the sector, exiting when it started to go cold. I eventually left this scene, returning to Australia where I currently live in Adelaide, South Australia.
Whilst I enjoyed my interactions with VCs, marketers and a myriad of technology companies, I was extremely frustrated with my constant dealings with unreliable web developer types. I’ve seen it all, failed outsourcing projects let down by cultural differences and so called performance based arrangements which in my experience don’t work.
On my return I decided to teach myself web development and I’ve spent the past four years getting up to speed with such technologies as HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP and MySQL reaching the point where if I need something developed, I do it for myself.
I regularly help “newbies” in various forums etc. and the areas where people struggle will be my focus for this blog. Of course, please feel free to write me any time via the Blog’s Contact page.
I look forward to interacting with you on my blog.
